Jälki

Jälki is an installation that focuses on observing traces of different scales, shapes and forms. As artists we were interested in going through materials, ready or unfinished, that we had left behind after past artistic works.  Our base was on Emitting Things project’s (2019–2021) performance materials that we, as the working group of a new work, rethought and set in new relationships in the context of Jälki. In addition to combining some of the already used materials, each of us also brought in elements that were new to the other group members. Those materials were sketches that had not found there place in previous projects but resonated with the theme of jälki (in English trace, post-, mark) as things that had stayed with us.

The installation also offered an opportunity to experience rinnakkaisuus_amongness audio performance published in June 2021. After the installation the audio performance has been available for the public via co-produrcer's website Esitystaiteen seura.

An important way of working for the convener and choreographer of the installation Lin Da is a process-oriented approach, in which corporeality has been essential means for dialogue, creating content and composing the installation.

 

As an accompanying program, the working group rehearsed a performance called Jäljellä olevaa in the gallery space, however, due to the covid-19 restrictions, the official performances had to be postponed until the year 2024.

 

In Emitting Things, the convener of the project Lin Da is constantly looking for ways how art could serve as a place for encounters between humans and other beings. They are also interested in experimenting with the forms of art in order to create new meeting points between the corporeal, imaginative, social and cultural aspects of life.
