Sense of Self

Sense of Self is an experimental short film that studies being on the border of movement and lifelessness. The starting point for this process is the phenomenon called death-by-overwork which in Japan carries the name karōshi. Death-by-overwork is an extreme symptom of fatigue. The phenomenon is connected to the normalization of the effectiveness brought to us by the modern society. This idealization of effectiveness and one’s achievements is wearing human beings out. People are experiencing stress more than ever. Sense of Self  is an endeavour to dance out this trance-like state of the achievement society.
